There are a number of reasons Photology may run slowly on your computer. The most common causes are:
- Your computer doesn’t meet the Photology minimum system requirements. Memory and disk space are most crucial. Make sure you have at least 512MB of memory installed, and at least 5GB of free hard disk space.
- Your images are on a network drive with a slow network connection. If your images are on a network share with a wireless connection (especially wireless-B) or a slow (<100 Mbps) wired connection, some operations such as sharing, slide shows and Detail View will be slow.
- You have antivirus software enabled. If your antivirus software monitors all disk activity, it can dramatically slow down Photology.
- You are running many other applications at the same time you are running Photology. You should ensure that you have sufficient free memory to run all your applications, and that the CPU usage is well below 100%.
- You are using Photology while it is indexing. Although it is completely safe to use the Photology user interface while it is indexing photos, it can significantly reduce the responsiveness of the user interface. You can try waiting for indexing to complete before trying to search for photos.
- You have an older video card, or your video drivers are not up-to-date.
