Normally, the default folders Photology monitors (Desktop, My Documents and My Pictures) should contain your photos, and you should be able to find them in Photology. If you don’t see photos in Photology which you know are on your computer, you’ll have to search for the folder(s) where those photos are located.

You can use Windows Explorer to search your drives for image files. You can do a search at the root folder on each drive on your computer (for example, “c:\”) for files with name “*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.tif”. If you view the results in the Search Results Details View, you can sort by “In Folder” to find the folders which contain your photos on that drive. You can then use the “Folders” tab in the Photology settings dialog to select the folder(s) where you found your images.

It should be possible to identify the location of a photo from within Photology. Can this be in an update?

This functionality has been added to Photology, as of release 1.1.108. When you go to Detail view, click on the folder icon next to the file name (upper left). That will open a Windows Explorer window showing the exact location of your photo. It even highlights the photo for you.

Enjoy!
